DEEPA NISHANTH
Deepa Nishanth is the daughter of T.C. Sankaranarayanan and K.S. Leela from Peramangalam in Thrissur district. She is a noted Malayalam author. She studied at Peramangalam Sreedurga Vilasam Higher Secondary School and Thrissur Sree Kerala Varma College. She secured first rank for her M.A. in Malayalam. She is married to A.N. Nishanth and has two children, Dhyan Krishna and Aaradhya. Her books include Pranayavyathayde Manifesto (Review), Radhayum Rajavinte Premabhajanam (Review), Namnuthirtha Mazhagal, best known for her widely acclaimed memoirs Kunnolamundallo Bhoothakalakkulir, Nananj Theertha Mazhakal, Ottamarapeythu, and Jeevathi oru Monalisachiriyan (Recollections). She is also an active writer on social media and a regular contributor to several leading contemporary publications. She writes for periodicals and social media platforms. She currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Malayalam Department at Thrissur Sree Kerala Varma College.
DESAMANGALAM RAMAKRISHNAN
Desamangalam Ramakrishnan was born in 1948 at Kalakantheswaram Veluthedam in Deshamangalam, Thalappilli taluk. Mother: Lakshmi Amma, father: Sankunni. He studied in his native place and in Cheruthuruthy. In 1972, he passed his M.A. in Malayalam from Pattambi Sanskrit College with first-class first rank. He worked as a translator at the Language Institute for a year. From 1975 to 1989, he was a teacher in Govt. Colleges. He did part-time research under Dr K.N. Ezhuthachan and obtained his PhD (1982). From 1989, he became a teacher in the Malayalam Department at Karyavattom Campus. He retired from the position of professor in 2008.
He also worked as an Emeritus Fellow at the University of Kozhikode, a Visiting Professor at the University of Madras, and a Professor and Dean at the University of Malayalam. Worked as a Senior Fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Languages (ISDL). He has received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi’s Comprehensive Contribution Award (2014) and the Ashan Prize – Chennai (2018). He has published eight collections of poetry, including “Vittupoya Vakkukal”, “Tatharamayanam”, “Vicharichathalla”, “Ethra Yadarschikam”, “India Gate”, “Enne Kandumuttan Aakumo”, “Ashtavakrante Vinduvicharangal”, “Deshamangalam Kavithakal”, “Ente Kavita”, “Ivide Oru Vaakum Santhvanamavavilla”, and studies like Kavithayude Kalathanthram, “Vadhipadum Puthu Vazhiyum”, “Sahithya Bahuvajanam”, “N.N. Kakkad” and a few plays and poetry translations.
DIVAKARAN VISHNUMANGALAM
Divakaran Visnumangalam, a noted Malayalam author, was born on March 5, 1965, in Visnumangalam, Ajanur village, Kasaragod district. He holds an M.S.C. with a rank in Geology. His spouse is Nisha, and Harsha is his daughter. Worked as a senior geologist in the Department of Geology.
He has published children’s literature works, Nirvachanam, Padavali, Jeevanane Button, Dhamanikal, Ravorma, Koyakatta, Sonamnam (poem collections), Muthasshi Ksheriya (children’s poems), Unniarcha, Palattu Koman (recitation). The poem is entitled V.T. Kumaran Memorial Poetry Award (1989), Mahakavi Kuttamath Award (1995), Kerala Sahitya Akademi’s Kanakasree Endowment Award (1996), Vailoppilly Award (1997), Edassery Award (2005), Jwala Award from Mumbai (2006), Abu Dhabi Shakti Award (2007), Mahatma Gandhi University’s ‘Samskara’ Poetry Award (2014), N.V. Krishnawarrier Memorial Poetry Award (2015), Mahakavi P. Foundation’s Thamarathoni Poetry Award (2017), Moodadi Damodaran Memorial Poetry Award (2018), V.V.K. He is the recipient of the Poetry Award (2019), Mooloor Award (2019), Thirunallur Poetry Award (2021) and other awards. Represented Malayalam poetry at the National Youth Poetry Conference jointly organised by the Kendra Sahitya Akademi and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 2003 and at the National All-Language Poets Conference organised by All India Radio in Guwahati on the occasion of Republic Day in 2010.
GEORGE ONAKKOOR
George Onakkoor was born in Onakkoor village, Muvattupuzha taluk, Ernakulam district. He did his schooling at Pampakkooda Government School and M.T.M. High School. Graduated in Economics from Muvattupuzha Nirmala College, Postgraduate in Malayalam Language and Literature from St. Burkumen’s College, Changanassery. Did his research in the Department of Malayalam, University of Kerala; M.Phil, Ph.D. degrees. He is an acclaimed novelist, story writer, literary critic, screenwriter, travel writer, college teacher and research professor. Architect of ‘Balakairali Encyclopedia’.
He is the recipient of the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for five years of distinguished service as the Director of the Institute of Children’s Literature, the Award for Best Art Literature Research Paper, the Euro-American First Pravasi Award for Best Indian Writer, Sahitya Akademi Awards (for novel and travelogue). Ezhuthachan Bhasha Award, Indira Gandhi Birth Centenary Award, Mother Teresa Award, Keshavadev Literary Award, Thakazhi Award, Sahitya Akademi, Kerala, were also received.
Visited France, Italy, England, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, the United States of America, Egypt, Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand. He served as the Head of the Malayalam Department of Mar Ivanios College, Director of the Literacy Committee. Served as Director of the State Children’s Literature Institute, Director of the Sarvaviyankakosham Institute, and Chairman of the State Resource Centre. He has written many books in the literary genres of novels, stories, travelogues, biographies, and literary criticism. Films include ‘Ulkadaal’, ‘Ente Neelakasham’, and ‘Yamanam’. GIREESH PULIYOOR
Gireesh Puliyoor was born in 1966 in Puliyoor village, Nedumangad, Uzhamalakkal, Thiruvananthapuram. Her parents are L. Sreedharan Nair and K. Saraswathi Yamma. Smita Murali is his spouse and has a daughter, Akshara Girish Murali. While an M.A. (English) student at University College, Thiruvananthapuram, he received the N.N. Kakkad Award and the Kunju Pillai Award for college poetry. He received the V.T. Kumaran Award in 1992 and the Rajaraja Varma Poetry Award in 2000. He has written lyrics for many serials and albums. He has won the American Viewers Award (lyrics: 2002), the K.P. Brahmanandan Literary Award (2011), the Adoorbhasi Foundation Award (lyrics: 2012), the P. Bhaskaran Foundation Poetry Award (2012), “Sicta” Award for Best Television Presenter (2019), Indywood Poetry Award (2020), and Kerala Government Award for Best Television Commentator (2018) have been awarded. He has published poetry collections such as Ottayante Hridayam, Nee Varunilla, Mamboomanakkann, Aadupampe Kadam Kel Pampe, Veesiyaditikku Kate, Orikalenne Nee Kyavartanam, and Snehathm Aayukalilla. He presents programs on various TV channels and runs his own institution called “Puliyoor Herbal Center”.
M. SWARAJ
M. Swaraj is a member of the CPI(M) state committee. She was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly from Tripunithura in 2016. His works include Pookalude Pusthakam and Maranam Kathu Daivangal.
GOPINATH MUTHUKAD
Gopinath Muthukad was born on April 10, 1964, in Kavalamukatta near Nilambur in Malappuram district. Kavanancheri Kunjunninair and Muthukad Devaki Amma. He started studying magic at the age of ten. He graduated in Mathematics from Manjeri N.S.S. College. He started studying L.L.B. but dropped out due to his passion for magic and established himself in this field. He has been working in the field of professional magic since 1985.
He has won many awards, including the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award in 1995, the International Magic Star Award (Paris) in 1999, the Pratibha Pranamam of the State Government in 2000, the Merlin Award, known as the Oscar of Magic in 2011, and the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship in 2018. In addition to professional magic, he is the Executive Director of Magic Academy, the world’s first magic museum, Magic Planet, a UNICEF celebrity supporter, and an ambassador for the Kerala Child Rights Commission. His works include India My Spellbound Love, Indi Ente Pranayam Vismayam and Ee Kathyilumundoru Magic
HARIS NENMENI
Harris Nenmeni, is a noted Malayalam author; his parents are T.M. Muhammed and Amina. He has completed a graduation in History and postgraduation in Sociology and Rural Development. Currently, he works in the Revenue Department. His works include, Double Bell, Ramro Nepal, Bharathathile Paithrika Kendrangal, Olympiam. He is a recipient of the Sukumar Azhikode-Tatthvamasi Award for Novel for the book “Maaji”, the Kunjunni Mash Award for Young Writers for the story collection “Bhoomi Allannattukanamtile Vaishamyangal” and the Pala K.M. Mathew Children’s Literature Award for the novel “Window Seat“. He has also received recognitions such as the Kalakaumudi “Katha” Award, Puzha.com Katha Award, Samashti Sahitya Puraskar, Pazhassi Katha Puraskar, A. Mahmood Katha Puraskar, and Shakti Katha Puraskar.
VIPIN DAS
Vipin Das is a film director and screenwriter. Parents are Haridas and Geetha Kumari. His spouse is Aswathi Jayakumar, and his daughter is Isha Das. He is from Thiruvananthapuram, a Malayan district. He is an IT professional and worked as a creative writer in an advertising company. He has written and directed short films Unnimulam (director), The Portrait (screenplay, direction), and his first film Muddgau (2016), Antakshari (2022), and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022). His works include Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.
SUMITHRA JAYAPRAKASH
Sumithra Jayaprakash was born in Kozhikode to Shankarankutty alias S.K. Pottekatt and Jaya Pottekatt. Her spouse is K. Jayaprakash. During her student days, she was an active worker of S. F. I. and worked as a school leader. Her memoir, published in the Mathrubhumi weekly, received the ‘Aksharam’ award of the All Kerala Arts and Literature Association.
