K.P. RAMANUNNI
K. P. Ramanunni, a prominent senior writer in Malayalam literature. He was born in Ponnani in 1955, to Janakiyamma Puthenveetil, Karumathil and Damodaran Nair, Pattaraparambil. His spouse is Raji, and Sridevi is his daugther. Completed post-graduate degree in English literature. He was an assistant manager in the State Bank of India. Served as the editor of Madhyamam weekly and as the administrator of the Thunchan Memorial Trust. Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor at Malayalam University. His notable works include ‘Vidhathavinte Chiri’, ‘Jaathi Chodhikkuka’, ‘Charama Varshikam’, ‘Sufi Paranja Katha’, ‘Daivathinte Pusthakam’, ‘Jeevithathinte Pusthakam’, ‘Prakasham Parathunna Aankutti’, and ‘Thanthapparatheyyam.’
Furthermore, Oxford University Press has published his short story ‘Charama Varshikam’ in English titled as ‘Death Anniversary’ Also, his acclaimed novel ‘Sufi Paranja Katha’ is translated into English, French, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Konkani, and Maithili. It is released as a film.
Furthermore, he is a recipient of several prestigious awards. He has recieved the Samastha Kerala Sahitya Parishad Sammanam, the Edassery Award, the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award. Also, the Vayalar Award, the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad National Award, the V.P. Sivakumar Smarakam Keli Award, the Padmarajan Puraskar, the Abu Dhabi Shakti Award, the Delhi Katha Award, the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Award, the A.P. Kalakkad Award, the C.V. Sreeraman Smaraka Ayanam Award, the T.V. Kochubawa Puraskar and the Kairali Award. His novel ‘Jeevithathinte Pusthakam’, won the Vayalar Award in 2011.
E. SANTHOSH KUMAR
E. Santhoshkumar was born in 1969. He works in the fields of short stories, novels, travelogues, translations and children’s literature. He received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of stories in 2006 (Chavukali) and for his novel in 2012 (Andhakara Nazhi). Has received the Kerala Children’s Literature Institute Award for ‘Kakkaradesamthe Urumbukkal‘ (2011). The English translation of Andhakara Nazhi was shortlisted for the Crossword Award in 2016. The story ‘Oralk Etra Mannuvenam‘, which was the basis for the film ‘Aaradi‘, received a special jury mention from the Kerala Film Awards Committee in 2017. He has received the Ankanam E.P. Sushama Story Award, Current Books Golden Jubilee Award, V. P. Sivakumar Keli Award, T.P. Kishore Memorial Short Story Award, Melur Damodaran Short Story Award, Kovilan Novel Award, Nooranad Haneef Memorial Novel Award, Vengayil Kunhiraman Nayanar Short Story Award, Padmarajan Short Story Award, FOKANA Short Story Award, and Prof. C.V.N. Literary Award.
G. R. INDUGOPAN
G. R. Indugopan was born on April 19, 1974, in Valathungal, Eravipuram, Kollam. He was a journalist for many years and is a noted biographer. He has authored over thirty books across various branches of prose. Indugopan has received several prestigious awards including the State Television Award for Story, the Kerala Sahitya Akademi’s Geetha Hiranyan Award, the State Institute of Children’s Literature Award, the Padmarajan Award, the V. P. Sivakumar Keli Award, the Edasseri Award, and the Kumkumam Novel and Story Awards. Also has won the Ashan Prize and the Abu Dhabi Sakthi Awards for both fiction and novels. Along with the Nooranad Haneef Memorial Award.
He wrote and directed the film Ottakkayyan (The One-Armed Man), which won two Kerala State Awards in 2007, as well as the Jessy Foundation Award for Best Debut Director. He wrote the screenplay for Chithariyavar and the dialogues for Up & Down. Several of his short stories have been adapted into films, including Chennaya (Wolf), Amminippilla Vettukesu (A Southern Fight Case), and Shankhumukhi (Kaapa). His novel Kaaligandhaki was adapted into a television serial that went on to win seven State Television Awards. His work Thaskaran Maniyanpilla received the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award for its Tamil version.
