BANESH M S
M.S. Banesh is a noted poet and documentary filmmaker. Born in Kodungallur, Thrissur district. He completed his M.A. (Malayalam) from Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam and his PG Diploma in Journalism from Kerala Press Academy. His poems were translated into several national and foreign languages. He has been writing poems in leading Malayalam periodicals since the early nineties.
His first collection of poems, Nenjumvirichu Talakuniknu, was published by DC Books in 2007. The second collection of poems, Kathushikshikanne, in 2011 and the third collection of poems, Nallainiam Pulaya Acharku, in 2017. His poems are included in several poetry collections in Malayalam and English.His poem “Kathushikshikkane” is a subject in the second-year degree syllabus of Mahatma Gandhi University, and the poem “Annarakannotsavam” is a subject in the MA Malayalam syllabus of Calicut University. His major works include Perakkavadi, Jalabharadinarathrangal, Premalepanam, Nallayinam Pulaya Acharukal.
He has won the State Government’s Television Award six times for documentary film direction and one time for criticism, the Kerala State Television Award for the best television article in 2013 for his article “How Humans Blind Humans”. He has also won the Film Critics Award in 2003. Currently directing documentaries on various human rights issues.

M S Banesh is a novelist and poet. Jalabhadradinrathrangal and Premalekhanam published by DC Books are his publications. His novel Premalekhanam is a romantic entertainment thriller. Set in the backdrop of Kolkata, Jalabhadradinarathrangal, his first novel known for its experimentation with language. Nenjuvirich Thalakunikkunnu, Kathushikshikkanae, Nallayinam Pulaya Acharukal, and Perakkavadi are his poetry collections. He has received several awards such as the R. Ramachandran Award, Ayanam A. Ayyappan Award and Jinesh Madappally Award. He is also seven times recipient of State Government Television Award.
