MADHAVAN PURACHERRY
Madhavan Puracherry was born in Purachery, Kannur district, to V.E. Govindan Namboothiri and Ganga Antharjanam. Poetry collections: Pravasiyute Mozhigal (1993), Pain Killer (2006), Cycle Yatrayil Naam (2009), Ponne… Ponne… (2013), Ee Nyaarazhchakaale Nokku (2015), Varkeyude Velipaddu Pusthakam (2015), Patakakalkidayil (2019), Mobileil Oru Yakshan (2019), Kuchelasatgatiyayum Karl Marxum (collection of articles), Meenootty’s Online Sancharam (children’s novel). He also authored Uchira.
He is a recipient of the Prof. Joseph Mundassery Award, Vidyavachaspati K.V. Kunhiraman Master Award, Korat Lakshmikuttyamma Award, B.C.V. Trust Poetry Award, P.T. Thankappan Master Literary Award, M.M. Sethumadhavan Memorial Tip Poetry Award, and Mahakavi Kuttamath Award. His work Uchira, an anthology of poems by Madhavan Puracheri, has been selected for the N.V. Krishna Warrier Memorial Poetry Award instituted by the Kerala Sahitya Samithi. He was a teacher at Moothedath Higher Secondary School. He retired in March 2021.
PK BHAGYALAKSHMI
P.K. Bhagyalakshmi was born in Eripuram near Pazhayaangadi in Kannur district. She is acclaimed as a teacher, writer and painter. She retired as a UP school teacher in 2017 and has created a world of creativity around herself by writing several books, painting hundreds of paintings, and travelling. In addition, she has built her own ‘art gallery’ next to her home in Eripuram, ‘Karthika’. Also, obtained a postgraduate degree in Malayalam and Gandhian studies and a doctorate from Kannur University. She has written about 20 books, including novels, stories, studies, poetry, children’s literature, and biographies. Some of her works are Neeralichoonda, Carpets of Cold, Yogi Community in North Malabar, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. She has received many awards, including the Prof. Joseph Mundassery Award, Bheema Bala Sahitya Award, S.B.T. Award, and Pala K.M. Mathew Award.
