DR. M. MULLAKOYA
Dr M. Mullakoya was born in Kilthan Island, a Lakshadweep community, to Khalifa Pittiyapuram Pookoya Haji of the Rifai Tariqat and Moopathioda Sakkinabi. He completed his B.A. degree at University College (Thiruvananthapuram), M.A. degree from Maharaja’s College (Ernakulam), and PhD degree from Calicut University (Kozhikode). Sait Muhammad Koya, popularly known as Hallaj, studied Sufism in detail at Tamlin (Antroth). Worked as a lecturer at J.N. College (Kavaratty), M.G. College (Antroth). He served as the Principal of Calicut University Centre (Kadamat), Technical Assistant, Department of Culture (Kavaratty), and Secretary of Lakshadweep Sahitya Kala Akademi (Kavaratty). Also worked as the ex officio editor of the Lakshadweep Times, a daily newspaper of the Lakshadweep administration, which was started in 1982, for many years. His works include Lakshadweepile Aithihyangalum Puraavruthangalum. He received the National Award for Teachers in 2015.
