Spreading of Decentralisation

A session held at the sixth edition of Kerala Literature Festival talked about the practice of fiscal federalism in India, which has been commendable from a long-term perspective given the severe challenges posed since independence. Sanjeev, one of the panellists, talked about centralised activities, carrying out decentralization, the planning commission, training physical policies, central government involvement in local bodies, and the vast availability of toilets. Ghosh emphasised the importance of lockdown during the pandemic while also discussing the federal system of central and state governments, notable changes in state government, and GST functions. As all of the panellists were ardent supporters of development, they all believed that the nation would improve in the near future.
