Popular Historian and Accessible History: Manu S. Pillai at KLF
Manu S. Pillai, popular historian and researcher, will participate in the sixth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival in 2023. Through his books, The Ivory Throne: Chronicles of the House of Travancore, Rebel Sultans: The Deccan from Khilji to Shivaji, and, The Courtesan, the Mahatma & the Italian Brahmin: Tales from Indian History, he inspired young crowds to read history. False Allies: India’s Maharajahs in the Age of Ravi Varma, Pillai’s most recent book, reassesses the erstwhile portrayal of Indian princely kingdoms and maharajahs and offers a new perspective. The Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar was awarded for his first book, The Ivory Throne: Chronicles of the House of Travancore, in 2017.
