Best selling author and historian Manu S Pillai will be in conversation with Dr. Latha S Nair to explore his recent book False Allies: India’s Maharajahs in the Age of Ravi Varma at Ernakulam today. Pillai rose to fame with The Ivory Throne, a brilliantly written work that chronicled Kerala’s history over the last three centuries. With a deeply layered narrative that was centered around queen Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, he bagged the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for this book. His subsequently published books Rebel Sultans and The Courtesan, The Mahatma and the Italian Brahmin marked his name in the literary scene. His fourth and latest release, False Allies came out in September 2021.
